Looking for something to do in October?

October in the Lakes Region is packed with fun events for the whole family! From  freshly baked apple pie at Stone Mountain Farm to the festive atmosphere of Laconia’s Pumpkin Festival, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re looking to browse local crafts, celebrate Oktoberfest with a cold brew, or take part in spooky Halloween fun at a Trunk or Treat, this month is full of activities in our local towns. Get ready for pumpkin patches, craft fairs, puppet shows, and more as we celebrate the fall season together!

Sat, Oct. 5

Third Annual Apple Pie Baking Contest at Stone Mountain Farm in Belmont.  According to their event posted in FB:

Our annual pie baking contest is coming up fast!!! Who will win this year???

RULES:
1. Must be an APPLE pie with no other fruits or juices added.
2. Crust must be homemade (Pillsbury pies crust/frozen crusts not allowed).
3. Pie must be baked in a DISPOSABLE FOIL PAN.. Any pie baked in a glass can will be DISQUALIFIED. Pies will be available for everyone to try after judging. You may take your pie home after judging or share with the the attendees.
4. Only 1 entry per person.
5. Pies must be dropped off by 10:30 am to be entered into contest. Late entries will be disqualified.
6. Judges decision is final.
Pies will be judged on APPEARANCE, FLAVOR , CRUST AND FILLING. Pies will be scored 1-25 points per category.
Contest will be limited to 15 participants.You can enter by stopping by the farm or texting Pie Contest! to Cindy at 603-731-2644. Please include first and last name and phone number.
 
PRIZES
$100 FOR FIRST PLACE
$50 FOR SECOND PLACE
$25 FOR THIRD PLACE.
After judging is complete, we will serve apple pie! Come watch the action, eat a piece of pie!!”

Saturday & Sunday, Oct. 5 & 6

Autumn Craft festival on the Lake at Mill Falls Market Place, Meredith – Come check out the kettle corn, vinegars, lamps, clocks and so much more.  For more details, click here.

Saturday & Sunday, Oct. 12 & 13

Pumpkins and Puppets at Brookford Farm in Canterbury – Pumpkin picking, make your own scarecrows and hayrides sound like the perfect fall activities.  For times and costs of admission, head here.

Sunday, Oct. 20

Harvest Happenings at Cold Springs Farm in Alton – Check out the harvest “hootenany,” live music and more!  Head on over here for more information.

Tuesday - Thursday, Oct. 22-31

The Pumpkin Festival in Laconia has grown!  Activities around Laconia will begin Tuesday, Oct. 22.  Places like Funspot, the Kellerhaus, the Loony Bin and more on the list of participating in the magic of the season.   

Saturday, Oct. 26 is a big day with the Runaway Pumpkin 5k and 10k walk/run, train rides aboard the Pumpkin Express, the Pumpkin Cornhold Tournament. Zombie Karaoke, and a Masquerade Ball aboard the M/S Mount Washington.

Saturday, Oct. 26

Monsters Bash at Defiant Records & Craft Beer in Laconia – 11:30 am to 9pm

Trunk or Treat 3pm – 5pm at 2 Airport Rd in Gilford, hosted by Learning by the Lakes Academy

Sunday, Oct. 27

Trunk or Treat at GYO Park in Gilmanton.  Cars should begin lining up at 2:30 on the field in order to be ready for the event from  4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
