3 Simple Ways to De-Stress During the Moving Process

De-Stress During a Move

Nobody likes moving.  It’s hard.  It’s stressful.  It’s exhausting.  But it doesn’t have to be.  Here are 3 simple tips to make your next move much less stressful…

Tip #1

Take measurements in your new home and then measure your furniture.  Is the sofa or entertainment center even going to fit? Be honest with yourself…..I mean really, REALLY honest.  Are you going to USE what you plan to move?  If you haven’t been using it for the past couple of years in your old home, there’s a good chance you’re not using it in the new one either….so get rid of things.  This is a perfect opportunity to purge!  You don’t need tax returns from 1982 and, unless you actually use that bread maker and snow cone machine, find someone else who can take it off of your hands.

Tip #2

Use Technology!  There are apps that let you create a file for each box and put photos of all the items inside it.

Featured App:  Boxes:  Storage made simple. This app will allow you to upload pictures and lists and even print QR codes to stick on boxes so that you can scan them and see what is packed inside.

You can use apps to organize everything; from your timeline, home inventory, and even finding movers in your community.

Tip #3

Go easy on yourself!  No matter how smooth moving the process may end up, it is still a stressful time.  Allow yourself to order in or take those friends up on their offer to drop off that tuna noodle casserole.  Get some sleep and ask for help when needed.

Finally, don’t forget to celebrate.  You’re turning a corner and starting a new life in a new home.  That is the BEST part of the whole process!
